Recumbent gearing calculator
Greenspeed is a pioneer in reumbent trike technology. The Greenspeed GTO model was arguably the first commercially successful recumbent trike and the vanguard of the Recumbent Revolution.
Use this gearing calculator to figure out gear-inches for combinations of Pinion gearboxes, Schlumpf drives, Rohloff Speedhub, derailleur systems, and many internally geared hubs including SRAM 3x7 and Dual-Drive. Also, since gear-inches is not really a measure of mechanical advantage (thus, won't give indication of such for shorter or longer cranks), we provide a "normalized" gear-inches number, which indicates the effective mechanical advantage of the system in terms of standard 170mm cranks.
